(June – August, weather permitting. Check the calendar for specific dates.)

Alum Creek State Park Beach
3400 Lewis Center Rd
Lewis Center, OH 43035

If you are new to swimming and perhaps a little nervous, Alum Creek is great because you can swim close enough to the shore that you will be able to stand if needed.  Additionally, the swimming beach is about 600 meters long.  So if you’re tired of making flip turns in the pool, you’ll have room to roam here.  A club representative will always be on hand for our group training swims to take roll, answer questions, and watch over everyone’s belongings while you’re in the water.

Water Quality:

The water at Alum Creek is typically clean and fairly clear.  During our Open Water Group Training Swims the water temperature is typically in the mid 70’s.  Occasionally in the warmest parts of the season we will get a water quality advisory.  Should this happen the group training swims are automatically canceled. The beach will remain open and you can still swim if you like, but the official COTC swim will not happen.

You can monitor the water quality at the following websites:

General Guidelines:

Anyone participating in COTC swims must sign a waiver.
All members swimming as part of the group swims must sign in and out.
No one under 18 can swim with the group unless a parent is in the water with them.
There is an inherit risk to open water swimming and members are encouraged to wear a wet suit & brightly colored swim cap.
Swimming with a swim buoy is highly encouraged.
Group swim cancellations will be made at least 2 hours prior to the event start time.
The group swim is automatically canceled if water quality advisories are in effect.
